August is National Make-A-Will Month, an annual reminder to take care of a task most of us put off. Surveys consistently show that a majority of American adults do not have a will, and the most common reason given is simply not getting around to it. If that sounds familiar, this month is a good excuse to cross it off the list.
Why is a will important?
✔️ Name a guardian for your kids
✔️ Decide who receives your property, money, and personal items when you pass away
✔️ Choose someone you trust to manage your estate
✔️ Leave gifts to causes that matter to you
If you do not have a will, Wisconsin law decides these things for you.
If you already have a plan, when did you last review it? Marriage, divorce, a new child or grandchild, buying or selling a business, acquiring real estate, or moving to another state can all leave an existing plan out of date.
Our attorneys help families and business owners throughout Central Wisconsin put easy-to-understand plans in place. If you would like to put a plan in place or take a fresh look at the one you have, please contact our office for an appointment.
