Amy graduated with honors from UW-Stevens Point in 1992, and after eight years of professional experience in social work and family counseling, she earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin. Amy is a Certified Elder Law Attorney and received her certification from the National Elder Law Foundation, which is the only organization approved by the American Bar Association to offer a certification in the elder law area. Becoming certified in elder law validates a lawyer’s specialty to handle issues that affect senior citizens. Her areas of practice include estate settlements, estate planning, special needs trusts, Medicaid planning and elder law. Special needs planning for disabled and elderly individuals has been a focus of her practice for the past several years.

Attorney Ilten graduated in 1972 from Valparaiso University, Indiana with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in history. He continued his studies at the Valparaiso School of Law and was awarded his Jurisprudence Doctorate in 1975 when he was commended by the International Academy of Trial Lawyers for his proficiency in the art of trial advocacy.

During his legal career Mr. Ilten has served as President of the Portage County Bar Association, as a Portage County Condemnation Commissioner, as a fair hearing examiner for Portage County, and as a member of the District Seven Committee of the Office of Lawyer Regulation. Mark has been a frequent presenter at Mid-State Technical College and past lecturer at the UWSP on the topic of estate planning. He also conducts the semi-annual Sentry Insurance retirement seminar for their employees.

Mark has been active in the community for many years. He is a past President and emeritus Director of the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, Inc. and is an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he has served as congregational chairperson. He is currently director of the church’s bell choir. Mark is also an active participant in the Stevens Point City Band, playing trumpet and serving as a trustee and treasurer for over 17 years.

Amy Jahnke joined our firm as an associate in 2014. Amy was raised in Antigo, Wisconsin, and is a 2006 graduate of Antigo High School. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Latin American History and Phi Beta Kappa honors. In 2012, Amy graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School. After law school, she worked in New York City with the Honorable Gerald Lebovits in NYC Civil Court, volunteered providing pro bono representation in NYC Civil Court’s consumer-credit and housing parts, and practiced in business and commercial litigation. Amy discovered her enthusiasm for business and real estate law through writing complex judicial decisions on real estate matters and assisting in large-scale contract litigation.

Amy’s areas of practice include business law, real estate law, and estate planning. She is excited to be back in her home state and is committed to providing thoughtful, thorough and efficient legal representation.

Amy serves on the State Bar Professional Ethics Committee. This committee formulates and recommends standards and methods for the effective enforcement of high standards of ethics and conduct in the practice of law and issues formal opinions to guide the ethical conduct of Wisconsin lawyers. Her appointment to this committee commenced July 1, 2015 and continues through June 30, 2018.

Attorney Young was born and raised in Antigo and graduated with highest honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010. She is a 2013 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison and received the Dean’s Academic Achievement Award upon graduation. Her areas of practice are estate planning and business law.

While attending law school, Katherine was actively involved in the Elder Law & Estate Planning Society and served as president of the student organization. She also worked for the Elder Law Center where she extensively researched issues concerning guardianships, advance directives and benefits. Katherine also did volunteer work with Wisconsin Judicare, a non-profit law firm serving low-income Wisconsin residents. She gained experience in client counseling and representation though her work with the Family Law Clinic where she worked with practicing attorneys to solve client problems.
