Amy graduated with honors from UW-Stevens Point in 1992, and after eight years of professional experience in social work and family counseling, she earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin. Amy is a Certified Elder Law Attorney and received her certification from the National Elder Law Foundation, which is the only organization approved by the American Bar Association to offer a certification in the elder law area. Becoming certified in elder law validates a lawyer’s specialty to handle issues that affect senior citizens. Her areas of practice include estate settlements, estate planning, special needs trusts, Medicaid planning and elder law. Special needs planning for disabled and elderly individuals has been a focus of her practice for the past several years.

Torren Pies graduated with honors from UW Law School in 1985. He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance and Management from UW-Madison, graduating with distinction in 1982. His practice is concentrated in estate planning, elder law issues, medical assistance counseling, general business law, and business sales and acquisitions.
As an attorney practicing business law, Torren finds working in Stevens Point particularly rewarding:

Katherine A. Young

Attorney Young was born and raised in Antigo and graduated with highest honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010. She is a 2013 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison and received the Dean’s Academic Achievement Award upon graduation. Her areas of practice are estate planning and business law.

While attending law school, Katherine was actively involved in the Elder Law & Estate Planning Society and served as president of the student organization. She also worked for the Elder Law Center where she extensively researched issues concerning guardianships, advance directives and benefits. Katherine also did volunteer work with Wisconsin Judicare, a non-profit law firm serving low-income Wisconsin residents. She gained experience in client counseling and representation though her work with the Family Law Clinic where she worked with practicing attorneys to solve client problems.
